SAVE THE HUMANS
THE VISION :
In Unison is launching the SAVE THE HUMANS campaign to provide food, jobs, training, and education for women and “single mother” families living without homes in Los Angeles County.
Our partners at SHARE! (Self-Help And Recovery Exchange) are a non-profit organization that operates 120 self-help support group meetings each week. SHARE!’s “collaborative housing” partners lodge likeminded groups of homeless Angelenos who live, shop, cook, and transform together as a community. Each collaborative house has Peer Bridge Services and counselors to help them heal their traumas & rebuild their lives.
BUDA VIDA, our non-profit restaurant … will provide organic food, training, education and jobs for SHARE!’s “collaborative housing” residents. Our mission is to get them: financially independent, off government subsides, and into a low-income house of their own.
All donations and revenues go directly to funding more human services, job programs, and urban farms for the food insecure
families in LA County.
PILOT PROGRAM :
PHASE 1 :
We are launching BUDA VIDA, a fast-casual nonprofit restaurant with an environmentally conscious model, fusing the most popular cuisine from around the globe. Our mission is to employ and feed homeless families and youth in LA County.
Our executive chef and urban farmers will grow 1,000 lbs of organic produce every month, in a modified 40' shipping container from CROPBOX. This perpetual source of food will supply BUDA VIDA – which will in turn serve healthy meals, train and employ Angelenos in need.
BUDA VIDA's organic global fusion menu was designed by Executive Chef Jerumel Laygo – graduated from Le Cordon Bleu Paris, staged at the Michelin restaurant El Bulli, & cooks for such clients as Leonardo di Caprio and Tom Hanks.
Jerumel and his team will train and employ Angelenos in need to work at the restaurant, arming them with the skills to grow and sell organic produce at our network of farmers markets.
BUDA VIDA is presently in discussions with key stakeholders within the Venice community, to lease our first high foot traffic location in Venice.
All donations and revenues go directly to funding more human services, training, job programs, and urban farms for the food insecure families in LA County.
